What can you do to avoid overwhelm as a coach -
Many coaches I've spoken to feel overwhelmed by everything they need to complete.
The company isn't sure whom their ideal client is.
There are too many deals.
They try too many different things to try and get the attention of others and to generate leads.
It's not easy for them to figure out how to enroll people into their programs.
They have too many applications that require them to bond with elastic bands and zaps.
They are too focused on their clients to end up burning out, even though they are passionate about their coach.
Do any of these resonate with you?
There are three kinds of overwhelm that I routinely witness coaches struggle with:
Strategy overwhelm
Clients overwhelmed
Systems are overwhelmed
Let's look at them each one at a.
Strategies Overwhelm
If it's about strategy, coaches are often faced with too many offers, they're doing too many things to try and get more attention or get leads and they often don't know which type of customer they should target.
They're also not clear of how they'd like make sales that will draw participants to join their program.
At first, you're going to try out a few things. That's okay.
You really need to nail your Five Ones.
The Five Ones say that if you focus on...
One avatar
One traffic source
One offer
One enrollment mechanism
One year
One million dollars of revenue.
Until you've hit your million dollars Don't think about creating a second avatar, another traffic source, another advertisement, or even a different registration mechanism.
Coaches who aren't making the amount they'd like to think that they should to expand their offering and products, additional avatars, more traffic sources ... everything in an effort to broaden their reach to bring in more clients.
When the exact opposite is actually the situation.
It is important to narrow your search. Make sure you are precise. Choose.
The issue is not making the right decision.
It's about making a decision to make it the right one, and getting it done.
It is possible to make any one of them function.
Select one you like, and then stick with it, till you reach the million dollar mark.
I know how hard this can be.
But with the right mentoring and guidance, you absolutely are able to do any succeed.
If somebody else has been successful in this way, then it's possible.
Then it's just figuring out the details.
Client Overwhelm
As much as we coaches love coaching and love our clients but sometimes, it's somewhat overwhelming.
When you're doing many 1:1 sessions with clients, it's not hard to get burned out.
You're constantly saying the same thing over and over again.
There is incredible energy flow out of your mind during the course of a session with a client, but you don't exactly where it came from. It's incredible!
You're disappointed that a lot of people will not get to hear your brilliance, because you're saying that in a personal one-on-one session!
Certain coaches don't just do one-on-one work, but are also doing the work for those they coach. The model of a "done-for-you.
Yes, you are able to increase your fees so that you earn more money as a coach, and possibly take on fewer clients.
But it's fundamentally not easily scalable.
What's scalable is group coaching.
Create a group plan that allows you to work with all your clients at the same time.
Templates, frameworks and live group coaching and a community.
They get not just you and they also receive one another.
That means that as the number of clients grows, so does the effectiveness of your service.
If you're not currently doing group coaching, or if a group-coaching program isn't the mainstay of your business, then this should be the first thing you consider, and it should definitely be your "One Offer" in the Five Ones.
Systems overwhelm
These days, it's quite common to use the following: five or seven, eight or even more softwares to run your coaching business.
Webhosting such as Wordpress or Wix
Marketing software for email or an ESP (Email Service Provider) like MailChimp or ConvertKit
Shopping cart similar to Shopify or Samcart
Course platform or LMS like Teachable or Kajabi
Video host like Vimeo or Wistia
Funnel software, or a page builder like LeadPages, ClickFunnels, or
Community-oriented software like Circle or MightyNetworks
Scheduler like Calendly or SavvyCal
Survey tool similar to TypeForm or SurveyMonkey
Tracking tool for affiliates such as Tapfiliate and Post Affiliate Pro
Pipeline for Sales like Pipedrive or Close.com
CRM like Hubspot or Ontraport
Zapier to join them all!
There's some overlap on this list, as many of these tools perform more than one thing.
There are other terms that are often used and I didn't mention.
It gets pretty long pretty quick.
This doesn't just add up to a hefty monthly bill.
This also means a lot of extra work and the mental energy of your.
First, there's the decision exhaustion of deciding on each of these tools.
For each category listed There are a variety of options, and they each have their strengths and weaknesses as well as some that are in multiple categories.
You have to evaluate them in all of them, before deciding the best one to use Then figure out how they'll integrate into the other stacks you have.
And then comes the actual integration.
Do they speak directly to each other? Or must you use Zapier in order to "zap" them?
This is another headache, and the connections are brittle.
The devices will break down, particularly during your vacation and it's up to you (or your team if you have one, and if they are able to figure it out) to repair it.
There's also the mental bandwidth of needing to switch between softwares, each one doing things a little differently.
It causes lots of contextual switching, where you must change your work style every few minutes.
If your logo appears at more than four locations then it's time to consider a better alternative.
With NO zaps.
There is no glue.
There are no rubber bands.
Everything you need to run your business from one place.
It's like finding your home along the interent.
And all the parts talk seamlessly with each other.
Clients only need only to fill in their details once, and you can store it stored in your database.
You can connect their opt-in to their application form and have them schedule a strategy session with you.
Easy. Clean. Simple.
