I'm originally from Venezuela. I was raised in a city that was very tropical that was surrounded by mountains and palm trees, however I sadly wasn't really allowed to explore my environment fully (partly because of my parents' excessive protection however, mostly due to the daily anxieties within my home country). Most of the time, television and books became my main forms of escapism - and drawing! I was constantly drawing my favourite anime characters as well as my family, friends, pets I was not allowed to wear, costumes, or all sorts of things.
It was mostly a pastime, and I was somewhat certain that I would never go beyond that in Venezuela. My family then decided to relocate to the UK, and this was a major change for me. In my teen years I had finally been granted greater freedom, and was able to travel by myself and to think about what I really desired to do.
My love for character design and narrative inspired me to read comics which in turn led me to illustration. Everything came together then. After a couple of years of studies (and many hours of sweaty work) I'm now freelance as an Illustrator in London.
I think my work is bold, fun and somewhat messy (in a good manner!). Sometimes it can be simple but it could also be very detailed. However, every illustration has a person or animal or even a beautiful piece of scenery. I believe all my illustrations are one in the same.
My main goal is to enjoy it. I am reminded of things that enthralled me as a child as a child: vivid colors as well as sly characters, humorous moments, and tiny little details to get lost into. My goal is to encapsulate all of these aspects when I design something fresh. If I can make the viewers feel happy or excited, or like they noticed something new and interesting, then I've succeeded in what I wanted to achieve.
"Another important aspect for me is the sense of humor. Over time, I've realized that I'm not the most competent person to create complex or abstract artworks however I am quite adept at making something fun and light-hearted to bring a smile to someone's face. I play to my strengths now."
