MRR and ARR Calculation

In the past the process of upgrading, downgrading, and other add-ons weren't always recorded or properly handled when it came to reporting on subscriptions. The issues were addressed in the past, and calculations should be more correct going forward.

What are the changes I should see In My Store?

If you are a heavy use of upgrades, downgrades, or add-ons, you may see your MRR and ARR change slighty due to the newly updated calculation. They are much more reliable than previous reporting with the identified fixes. If you are still unsure you can contact us at [email protected].

The past is a part of history. MRR Changes

Previously, we used dates of activation as a way to look for cancellation date and then removed MRR contributions, which had an unintended consequence of altering historic MRR value. To solve this, we have improved our analysis to record cancellations on the day that cancellation occurs and remove MRR contribution on that day.

Example of Changes

Let's take an example of an annual subscription that was activated in January 2023. It was cancelled in May 2023, and later deactivated in the month of December 2023. In our prior MRR contribution calculation would not change until after the end of December 2023. This could have altered the MRR contribution over the course of May to December of 2023.

In the present, using the dates as in the previous example this calculation instantly takes away the MRR contribution of the contract, beginning at the cancellation date in 2023, which is May and results in an more precise MRR change calculation.

What are the changes I should see In My Store?

Some sellers may cause a slight increase in the number of cancellations and lower MRRs for active customers as well as subscriptions. If you have any questions regarding this reporting, please contact us at [email protected].
