What's your history?

"My Name is Sylvia Boomer Yang. I'm an illustrator, animator and GIF artist who is based in Brooklyn, New York. In my work as a professional I make motion graphics, animated illustrations and storyboards for explainers, video series and apps. However, what I truly love to do in my spare time is create fun and unique animated graphics as well as stickers that help people smile and help them express themselves."

"I grew up in Taiwan and began attending high school for fine art when I was little. I was always drawn to drawing but I began to be stymied in a strict education style. I felt like I was unable to express my identity and voice using conventional methods of art. Learning about fine art has certainly helped me establish the base for where I am today."

"I changed into design college in my college and moved in New York for grad school. This was when I started experimenting with digital animations as well as animation. Animation provided me with the capability to mix animation and motion to convey a message in a dynamic method. I really enjoyed discovering how to bring still images to life."

What is the key to making your animated images?

"I love to work with an empathetic sense and powerful emotions that make people feel at ease, while using different media, as well as creating an original style of design. Designing can be really fun!"

"Collaboration/teamwork is one of the keys I evaluate a lot. I like how individuals come up with ideas as a team. I also think that the best work is usually created by a team comprised of individuals with diverse strengths and skills.

Everyday, I'm always creating new things that make me feel inspired. When not designing, or creating motion graphics, I could find myself making messy mess around the house (lots in cooking) and creating crafts. I often visit Brooklyn farmers markets , and play on various food items at the kitchen table at. The world is full of amazing things. I am a sucker exploring new cultures, communities as well as innovative art."
