Motion graphics The CreativeMindClass Blog
What's your story?
"My Name is Sylvia Boomer Yang. I'm an illustrator animator, and GIF artist based in Brooklyn, New York. As part of my job as an artist I design motion graphics, animated illustrations as well as storyboards to explainers for videos and applications. However, what I truly like to do as a side project is make funny and fun animations and stickers that can make anyone smile, and allow them to communicate their ideas."

"I have a family in Taiwan and was enrolled in the fine arts school as a child. I've always loved drawing, however, I was eventually stifled in a strict education way of life. I felt like I was unable to express my identity and voice using traditional tools that art uses. Learning about fine art has certainly helped me establish the base for where I am today."

"I changed to design school in college before moving into New York for grad school. That's when I began experimenting using animations and digital art. Animation gave me the power to combine motion and illustration to convey a message in a dynamic way. I really enjoyed learning how I could transform still images into motion."

What would you say about your animations style?
"I frequently find myself expressing myself with fun, vibrant and quirky styles. I believe that smiles are an excellent way of evaluating successful work. "

What are the most important factors to making your animated graphics?
"I love to work with a sense of humor plus emotional energy that helps individuals feel more connected. I enjoy exploring different media and creating a unique aesthetic. The process of designing can be really entertaining!"

"Collaboration/teamwork is one of the keys I evaluate a lot. I love how team members come up with ideas as a team. I also think that good work typically is built by a group of people with diverse strengths and skills.
In daily life, I wouldn't stop creating things that keep me inspired. When not designing motion graphics, I can be found making a messy mess around the house (lots in cooking) as well as making craft projects. I often go to Brooklyn market and try my hand on various food items at home. There is a world full of magical things, I love traveling and exploring diverse communities, cultures and art that is innovative."
