From the time her early days as a young child, New Zealand-based maximalist designer and artist Evie Kemp was a lover of art and design. "I was always drawing, redesigning my dollhouse, or watching makeovers of rooms on TV." Later, in her teens, Evie says, "I became really insecure about being  different and I was willing to do anything to avoid standing out."

That urge to fit in was what led her to law school, but when she was studying law, "my mental health became bad," Evie says, "and I had to take the time off for six months. It was during that time, when I began to recover I focused my attention on figuring out what I actually like, and then decided to apply to study graphic design instead." Returning to the art she loved from childhood has had a profound impact on her. "It was through that degree that I was able to truly identify my unique voice, and accept the many quirks I'd held away for years."

Within the fifteen years that have passed since taking that step to concentrate on developing her skills in an area she is passionate about, her confidence and artistic voice has helped her build her own business. "I am finding increasing evidence that I'm more bold and vibrant and imaginative than I've ever been," she says. "It's similar to the old "Which one was first: the chicken or the egg issue: I don't know if I get more comfortable and confident in myself when my work becomes more exuberant or opposite. I'd never say my style is "developed," but I'm sure it's still developing."

Evie's fashion sense shines through her bold style, which is brimming with bright colors and mixed patterns. Check out Evie's suggestions on creating an online identity that is a reflection of your style creating an engaging content strategy, and then using it to manage multiple income streams effortlessly.

Creating a uniquely "you" website

Where and how to show on the internet is crucial to the growth of any creator or entrepreneur. As Evie puts it: "For me, my web page and my social media accounts are my "face.' In a digital age I believe that my site represents me and has to impress and convince others of my knowledge."

Creating a branded website that uniquely represents you and what you offer is not just about having a distinct brand will help to distinguish yourself from competition. Also, it's important to reflect your personality, and to attract the types of customers, clients or audience who'd best connect with your company.

Create a site that is as efficient as it is attractive

Another thing that is essential for Evie is an announcement bar that greets visitors on the first page on her website. "My website features a lot of information, therefore it's great to immediately make sure that certain aspects are highlighted!"

It is a pleasure to know that these functions are only going to "take just a few minutes to upgrade, and make sure that my website stays current and running as well as it can."
