After the launch of his first cookbook Andy is currently exploring what it means to be an independent food writer, video maker as well as a chef, having already established himself as an influencer within his field. "My principle when it comes to putting out content is that it should contain stories, perspectives and passion, so that the content has meaning."

The website is curated as an experience

Andy traced the origins of his love of food going back to his childhood. "My parents moved into California from Iran in the late 1970s, and with them, they brought their food culture from their home country," he says. "I believe that the food traditions as well as the tastes, recipes and my extended family having me around are factors that instilled my early desire for food and cooking." He chose to go into food and cooking writing as a profession due to the fact that this love "expanded into a profound, ever-evolving curiosity about all things food."

"This website is geared towards people who are familiar and unfamiliar with my work," Andy says. "I will ensure the people are aware of my background, but be able to engage with both any new and existing content which the website will create." One of the new content Andy is planning to develop is his things I Enjoy pages. The site gives him the chance to showcase the food and lifestyle brands he loves most. brands and expand the limitations of his known-for name a bit. "While my writing and recipes have been very much part of my career for a while now," Andy says, "I am now taking advantage of new opportunities to be featured on the website."

The lessons learned from the very first year of an independent creator

The past few years, in addition to creating and releasing the first novel of his, Andy has also been exploring the ins-and-outs of working independently. This includes building his brand and building the necessary habits to be a successful creator.

"I consider that the integrity of what I like to prepare and publish about food have very remains the same" Andy says, referring to his style of working with the brand he has now, in contrast with his style before his transition to independence. "I believe my style--while it was something that was very obvious for me at the personal level -- is now open and an integral element of my work. I have more creative control in the present."

What is Andy's second advice to budding creators? The artist suggests being careful about which projects you want to pursue, wherever possible. "Take on projects and work with people that will inspire your and allow you to gain something from," Andy says. "But be aware that not all projects will satisfy this--which is okay! But the point is to keep evolving."
