In the month of the month of January Nia Pettitt officially opened the doors to Curl Bar. Curl Bar, the salon for curly hair in London. Nia's vision for the salon was not just about creating a beautiful environment for clients, however, she also wanted each client to feel valued and appreciated.

Bringing a brick-and-mortar business to the next level

The establishment of a salon for hair with curly locks has always been an ambition of Nia's. "I frequently journeyed across America for my hair cut because it was never easy to locate a salon located in London or even within of the UK," she says. "I set out to design an experience that would be comfortable, calming, and also reflected what I might have wanted when I was a little girl." Customers were overwhelmingly supportive of her concept. When the books opened at The Curl Bar, appointments soon filled up.

"Your life changes as you start to set up an business. Be sure to change your ways," Nia advises aspiring business owners. Nobody could have anticipated the extent of changes that will be in store for Nia along with the Curl Bar. Two months after its debut, the bar was closed temporarily because of COVID-19 shut-downs in the UK. But even an indefinite suspension of operations did not slow Nia's progress.

"I had no plan to grow the business or even in the epidemic," she says. "I take every morning as an opportunity to grow beyond." While The Curl Bar was closed, Nia shifted her focus on social media, engaging with stylists as well as the people she follows through social media until The salon was allowed to resume its operations.
