In January, Nia Pettitt officially opened the doors of the Curl Bar, the salon that caters to curly hair in London. The idea behind the salon's creation was created by Nia was not just about making clients feel gorgeous, but offering the opportunity for everyone to be embraced and admired.

Create a brick-and-mortar business to existence

Establishing a hair salon with curly locks has always been a goal of Nia's. "I frequently traveled across America to have my hair be finished, since it was difficult to find a hair salon located in London or the UK," she says. "I wanted to create something that was in a calm and comfortable environment and represented the things I wanted to be as a young girl." Many people reacted to my vision when they opened the doors at The Curl Bar The Curl Bar, the appointments swiftly became full.

"Your life changes as you begin to think about opening a business. Make sure you're up to face the change." Nia advises aspiring business entrepreneurs. It's impossible to know what kind of change was going to happen for Nia and the Curl Bar. Only three months following its launch, the restaurant was temporarily shut down due to COVID-19 shutdowns within the UK. Even a definite stop in the salon's operations didn't deter Nia's progress.

"I did not have a plan to grow the business or even in the case of the outbreak" she says. "I am just taking each day as a learning experience to learn from." When The Curl Bar was closed, Nia shifted her focus on social mediaand engaging with stylists as well as her following on social media until the Salon was able to reopen.
