A domain for a website is the URL you enter into your web browser so that you can open the page. A URL for a website page is composed of two parts:

Schema or protocol

Subdomain

Domain name, also known as a second-level Domain

Top-level domain (TLD)

Subdirectory URL or Page URL

A majority of users are paying attention to the domain name, the TLD, and page paths. Your domain name is the unique identification number for your website ("" to refer to .com) while the TLD is your site's name's extension (like .com, .net, or .org) as well as the page's path is the address of your website (like "/blog" for .com/blog).
