Honouring History, empowering the Future: International Women's Day 2024

Every year on March 8th, the world unites to celebrate International Women's Day (IWD). This day is a time to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of women, to consider the challenges they still face and make a commitment to create the world in which women and men are treated equally. As we look back, this day didn't come about quickly. It's the culmination of struggle determination, perseverance, and determination. This day is celebrated by us, and invite everyone to join us take short trip through the rich past of IWD, a testament to the continuing effectiveness of collective action.

Starting with Seeds of Change to a Global Movement

IWD's seeds IWD began to germinate at the start at the beginning of the century. It was during this time that the fight for women's rights grew in strength. In 1857, on March 8, a group of women were on strike to protest the lack of working conditions in addition to the poor working standards for women in the field of textiles. The strike demanded the reduction of working hours and reasonable living wages. In 1908, on March 8, the march of women working in the needle trades was organized to protest child labor and working conditions in sweatshops, and to the right of women to vote. In 1910, a year after the march, March 8th was declared an annual holiday as International Women's Day.

Through the 20th century IWD played a significant role as an force for positive transformation. It provided a platform in which women could speak their voice in matters such as the right to vote, fair work conditions and pay, and access to education. In 1975 IWD was officially recognized in 1975 by The United Nations officially recognized IWD and affirmed the worldwide significance of IWD.

A Day of Celebration and Action

In the present, IWD is celebrated in numerous ways, from breathtaking parades to intimate celebrations. It's a time to recognize the women who have made a mark in every profession that range from scientists and artists to entrepreneurs and activists. It's crucial to keep in mind that IWD isn't just about celebrating but also an opportunity take action. It highlights that the struggle to achieve gender equality is far from being over. This fight should be continued to ensure equality of possibilities, fight harmful stereotypes, and empower women and girls across the globe. The primary theme for International Women's Day 2024 is " Invest in Women to accelerate progress" with the globally popular hashtag #InvestInWomen..

In accordance with the UN the UN the UN, these five categories are key to pushing forward this tag to become outdated:

• Improving women's lives is a matter of Human Rights:Time is running out. Equal gender representation is the biggest human rights problem, and it benefits everyone.
• Eliminating poverty Because of the COVID epidemic as well as conflict, 75 million more people have fallen into severe poverty since the year 2020. Immediate action is crucial for stopping more than 342 million females and girls who are living in poverty by the year 2030.
• Financial management that's gender-sensitive: Conflicts and rising cost could force 75 percent of countries to reduce public expenditure up to 2025. This will negatively impact women and their essential services.
• Shifting to a green society and economy:The current economic system disproportionately affects women. The advocates advocate for a transition towards green economics and a care society that will boost the voices of women.
• Women's empowerment through the changemakers: Despite leading efforts, feminist organizations receive only 0.13 percent of the official funding for growth.

Beyond the Day
