Fantasy illustration the CreativeMindClass Blog. CreativeMindClass Blog

How would you describe your personal style?

It's somewhere in between stylized and realistic fantasy illustration. I rely on a variety of aqua and muted color palettes and tend to work with organicand flowing forms. My "style" as an illustration artist is heavily dictated by the colors I use and the subject matter I actually choose to paint but not always the way it's painted. I was previously working using a much more straight-line approach, however I've been transitioning into a looser and more painterly approach.

What is the key for creating drawings of fantasy art?

I'm constantly re-examining them until the image looks closest to the way I envision the image in my mind (within reasons, else I'd spend months on a single painting). It's my goal to make my designs more complex to create a mediocre illustration. I'd rather spend a lot of time to get the fantasy illustration right instead of rushing through the process.

What are the best places to show your fantasies?

I'll be participating in the upcoming "Oceans and Currents" exhibit in Gallery Nucleus on July 1st! While you wait I'm via Instagram. Prints are available for sale through my store Bandcamp for those who are interested!

And I also have a Youtube and Bandcamp for those interested in my work and I'll be releasing new songs shortly.

Brigitte's Background

I earned my diploma in my school, the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and I currently work in the field of entertainment art as a concept artist and illustrator. Also, I have a ongoing creative project named Pearl Farm that I make illustrations. I write, as well as perform original songs.

The illustrations for the article come from my personal project, Pearl Farm. It's my original story, it follows a traveling musician known as Vinny and her pet ray Hubble while they travel their way across a globe known as"the Lofty Coastline.
