Do AI unlock the creative power of human beings? Perspectives of film makers and the VP of Creative

Sep 17, 2023

It's a fact, AI isn't going anywhere.

Although there's a valid debate about whether AI could replace writers, editors, and concept art directors a majority accept the fact that AI is inevitable and are now considering the possibility of it changing how work gets completed. At Cannes I heard different opinions from artists like will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas fame discuss how AI will alter the ways people live for the next 10 years. A majority of conversations revolved around how AI is quickly unlocking the power of people's hidden talents and effects on the creative process.

As someone who's worked as the artistic director over the past twentyplus years, I was eager to express my opinion and utilize this as an opportunity to engage with those in our society.

What's the state of the game? what can we do to move on to the next stage?

This is what AI is able to do right now.

"I was a magician prior to when I was a film maker. When you're a magician, you'll realize that any sophisticated technology can't be distinguished from magic. The art of magic can also be scary when you're not certain of the way it works or the process. It's the way I'm feeling regarding AI as an artist, or an individual who makes money from sending something you've thought of on your mind, onto the screen or television screen. AI can be a frightening thing since it could take over your job." Ben Proudfoot, Oscar-winning short Doc directory. named CEO of Breakwater Studios

Humans have a natural talent for creativity. This is a characteristic that artificial intelligence isn't able to replicate.

Midjourney was announced in July 2022. ChatGPT was launched in the month of November that same year. We've seen self-described "non-creatives" have the ability to unleash their creativity, which has gone under-utilized due to their lack of expertise.

Some of these creations are impressive and the tools have evolved in such rapid speed, that you'll be forgiven if you've forgotten that they're only 1 year old.

AI helps you share ideas

The concepts of nuanced films, stories, images, or even music are limited by the necessary techniques and skills needed for bringing these concepts to life.

In the recent year, such images are possible to create with just the help of just a few keys:

Midjourney 5.2 is the new generation of AI images.

Just 48 hours later, the people have already pushed limits.

What we know to date:

With a long-standing experience, such as Oscar-winning filmmaker Hashem Al-Ghaili, the chances are more lucrative.

Take a look at his AI-generated movie " Last Stand," which depicts how humans would react when aliens made contact.

"AI will make us look at questions in ways that you've never ever thought about," says Crystal Edmonds who is the head of accounts and Events Activation of Magnet Media Films. "I believe it will make us think. We're going to learn something we've never thought we wanted to learn about. You're likely to discover that people are able to achieve a whole innovative level of creativeness through AI."

In this case, Staff Pick winner Paul Trillo's short movie "Thank You for Not Answering."

Instead of striving to attain realism the designer deliberately aims for the dreamlike style which is typical of Runway's Gen-2. "As a man [that] sends a message to a person from his history and is overwhelmed by fragments of memories that are faded and is imagining the future that could be."

An artist who has adapted to the weaknesses and strengths of his medium in order to produce something that is unique.

AI can help you validate ideas and then sell them.

Make no mistake, while these are breathtaking instances of how AI is used to express the artistic viewpoint, AI for commercial use is presently a trick.

Have a look at this artificially-generated beer commercial. This is a product from its time and could not be considered to be a legitimate advertisement if considered to be a legitimate advertisement.

It does offer ample information that can convey an idea to executives more efficiently than any mood board sketch or elevator pitch can ever achieve.

By using generative AI there is no need to rely on your words to create attractive images that appeal to ten or more people In fact, it's possible to utilize an explicit prompt to create the perfect sizzle movie as well as animatics and pre-visualizations in order to get people to believe into a vision.

What does that mean to creatives of today?

Begin to learn how to create an effective AI-related prompt. AI.

"I believe this generation of employees will be able to master the tools are available to us and will begin to utilize artificial intelligence that is generative both visually and in written form," says Orlando Baeza the Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Revenue Officer at Flock Freight. "I think there's a lot of job growth in this area, however it will have to upskill the existing workforce and ensure that the next generation of employees are able to improve in the future."

AI can save valuable production time

The process of making videos today is between two and three weeks for the creation process from start to finish Yet, AI has sped this procedure, making it possible for filmmakers to make more decisions and also allowing the producers to complete projects that require a concentrated effort.

"I believe that one of the biggest challenges that the industry faces is the expense of making films. There is a very high barrier of entry for making film and one of the special aspects of the process is that it makes filmmaking more affordable to all," continues Baeza. "So should you think that AI as well as machine-learning can help those with limited resources to reach an extensive audience, it's certainly an opportunity to be grateful for, isn't it?"

AI already has made the process of making videos simpler by automating tasks including the editing of transcriptions, individualization, or planning. In particular the removal of objects from the background of videos was an arduous procedure that took a long time and just requires using Generative Fill. Generative Fill software.

"I think organizations will see AI in the coming years as efficiency and productivity increases," says Baeza. "I think that AI is going to become an effective partner, and it will probably become a part within the most innovative companies."

Let's see what AI is unable to aid you in.

AI won't help to make you viral.

Machine learning operates by analyzing previous data, and then analyzing the patterns it has previously consumed. For instance machine learning, or generative AI program could produce the most stunning picture of a blue cup, from the countless pictures it's processed out of blue cups.

This isn't about replicating previous achievements, rather it's about framing the situation with an innovative perspective or applying a fresh spin on old ideas, and drawing connections no one else has created. The way Steve Jobs famously said:

"Some people say give the clients what they want, but it's not the way I work. It is our job to determine the things they'll need before granting them. I'm convinced that Henry Ford once said, "If I'd asked my clients what they were looking for I would have gotten an even faster horse. They don't even know the things they'd like until you demonstrate it to them. The job of us is to discover items that aren't yet printed on paper." Steve Jobs, Co-founder of Apple

Creativity is a mix of art and science and AI is really adept at the science portion of the equation.

There are a few standard and reproducible practices we adhere to in our work as well as some that AI can replicate, such as the rule of threes, or the use of big fonts when promoting the sale. However, AI isn't able to be forward-looking: it can't detect virality or offer an original, fresh perspective that customers will love.

If you're a creative, this is great news. Create your own unique concepts, and then utilize AI to help bring the concepts to life.

AI cannot replicate the creativity method.

One of the best benefits of creativity is that -no no matter how accurate your idea is, the concept will become a reality of its own as it's developed. Every person that comes into contact with your idea brings their own vision and perspective to the notion And the end item has a dimension you wouldn't have anticipated.

A film editor in the industry with whom I worked once stated, "You might have shot the storyboard but your storyboard has no value now and I'm just planning to make use of the material I have." If everything was shot as you had planned in the storyboard, a film editor may highlight particular aspects or modify items in a manner which was different from the initial idea.

As of now, I'm unable to think of a way to use AI to mimic the creative process using this approach.

AI isn't able to provide an artistic perspective it can add to the creative process in the same way that an individual filmmaker or videographer. And so, even if AI can be used in the process of creation -- in an effort to speed up the process of generating concepts or make edits humans are still involved in the creation process itself.

Stay curious and keep your eyes open

There is a proven fact that AI will increase our capacity to communicate our vision as well as a trigger to allow the next generation of creators to be born equipped to do things could never be had the idea of. If I had to capture the moment in a phrase which would define the experience the emotion would be an anxious excitement like no moment in the past for quite an extended period of time, and we're looking into the unknown.

Actually, I'm an individual with a single collection of ideas and thoughts. I believe we must continue considering possibilities through an open mind, maintain an open mind and have a discussion.

In case you're intrigued- where do you stand? What's your current method of employing AI now, and where do you think it'll bring our industry?
