When I'm free I enjoy doing 30-minute-hour studies or explorations where I just do whatever I think I'm feeling that day. This has helped me grow, but it also helped find the kinds of activities I liked.
Nowadays, I like to focus on the color of light as well as how to convey the textures with a clear way so that I do not have to go overboard with every aspect. My preference is to maintain my designs very close to the real world however, in the future I'm hoping to make shapes move further and be more stylized with my artwork.
If I begin a painting, generally speaking, I love laying out my main shapes first either in BW or straight in color. If I feel it's necessary first, I begin with linework initially. When I've got a solid foundation, I prefer to draw in the light shapes and shadow shapes onto separate layers. Not until then do I begin to create or render the image in a variety of ways, from huge to the smallest of details.
To create the Streets of London painting I used a similar process. To create clean edges and keep things neat, I made use of a number of layers. I also put the main light layer on a separate layer.
The layers make me worry less about making mistakes. But once I'm happy in the state of the work, I'll begin to combine a couple of things, only keeping what I feel is important.
For me, colours are an "feel" thing, I just go for those that feel right. Also, I have a number of reference sources which I use to assist me in choosing the perfect colours. Sometimes I blend references but sometimes I just use one.
It's certainly a smart idea to study the theory of light and colour, so that you are aware of what can do to make your general colour scheme and value more pronounced.
It's a bit difficult to pinpoint what the key to making my work... I simply like exploring various styles, media and subjects and am inspired by others artists.
It's still early on my art journey and continue to try to figure out my identity as an artist and what my style is. The main difference nowadays is that I don't really worry about it as much I used to , and I think that's making a lot of difference.

Today, I'm mostly employed as a concept artist at Envar Studios but also do occasionally freelance work.
It's true that I'm generally more than active with Twitter than on Instagram. For those who want to buy prints I'm selling the prints through Inprnt.
