Control over Community-related notifications -- for you and
We've updated community notification settings for a better user experience (and fewer emails). Here's what's new.
What's the right way to inform members of what's going on within your neighborhood?
It is important to inform your users know about interesting conversations , and get them involved in discussions more often -- but you also have to allow the members control over their experiences and prevent notification overload. And we heard from our creators how important it is to strike the right equilibrium.
In the most recent update to the community feature which allows you to and your friends are more in control of messages. That means livelier conversations, less flooded with emails, and a community platform that can bring both of you and closer.
Set your own notifications settings as a creator member
Community members and creators have the option of choosing which notification they'd like to get for every topic: new posts and responses to your comments, and/or new replies to your feedback.
When you log into a community as a member, go to Settings and then click "Edit" in the Notifications. (Creators can find this in the Notifications tab in your Account's settings.)

There are a variety of communities you are following. You can simply check or uncheck boxes that control the kinds of notifications you would like to receive for every topic.

For example, you might prefer to be notified of posts, comments, and responses in an area that is time-sensitive like live Events or Announcements. If you are interested in other subjects such as Announcements, you might want to be only notified whenever someone publishes a new post - or deactivate notifications for that topic entirely.
You can also quickly toggle your notifications on and off using the buttons "Mute all" or "Unmute the entire".
In addition, you can modify your notification preferences per topic conveniently by accessing the "All topics"page or an individual topic page. Select the bell icon after which you can set your preferences for notifications.

Set default notifications for a topic
Creators can also set the default notifications settings for every area of your community. This gives you greater control over the member experience.
Instead of sending notification emails to members of your organization for each article in each topic, you can choose which topics your members get notified about and which kind of notifications they will receive.
Here's how:
In the Community section of your dashboard, select "All Topics". Then, click the "..." next topic you'd like editing and click "Edit the topic". There, you can select your notification settings under "Default notifications".

Users can alter these setting of notifications at any time in their user accounts. If they haven't modified their settings, they will default to the settings set by the creator for every topic.

We hope these community updates create a better experience for both you and your fellow members. We appreciate your time!
