Black and white photographies - The CreativeMindClass Blog
We sought out Titika about her secret for the mysterious photos in black and white.
"My moniker is Titika Rotkjaer. I'm an artist from Copenhagen, Denmark. Following my studies in communication at Roskilde University, Denmark, I transferred to Norway to pursue a degree in visual arts initially at Oslo National Academy of the Arts then in Bergen which is where I completed my studies in visual art at Bergen Academy of Art and Design and earned an MA in Textile Art. I do not have formal instruction in photography. The knowledge I have about editing and photography comes through continuous self-education.
Are you interested in learning more about my personal style? Would I like to discuss style instead? I don't think of style... In telling stories from a poetic and personal perspective In each photograph I work intensively on expression, mood, the atmosphere. Developing how my images appear is a procedure. It is my goal to always refine and clear the meaning. Sometimes , I edit old photos when I learn something new which allows me to get closer to what I had in mind.
The key to making my mysterious photographs ...? The majority of my photographs that I have created over the past four years - I have explored the complex and self-awareness and have a particular interest in connecting both the outer and inner worlds. A lot of my photos - but not all - comprise digitally from several photographs (all are, naturally taken by myself).
My approach usually begins by expressing an interest or desire to investigate a particular theme or complex of feelings. I photograph, take notes, read and gain more knowledge, and take another shot. Making use of the photos often will lead me to create a new one out of several others. I work experimentally, subjectively and in a way that is intuitive to themes to let the photographs take shape. I don't have an exact idea of what I want to achieve within my head, but I do after that, I shoot the components to construct the picture."
