The process of connecting to your authentic self; the deep essence of what a person is.

Angela Maria Sierra, a spanish-born artist who portrays the real her own emotions and the feelings she's going through. The result is in the form of models with a rich emotional life, full of sensitivity to ease and pleasure.

She is known to the art world under the name Riso Chan, who is a portrait artist and an art teacher currently living at The Netherlands. She just started her new artistic journey with videos and her very own YouTube channel! It's something that she wanted to do for quite a lengthy time. Bravely storming through the awkwardness of speaking to a camera, she released the video that was fun to watch about her as well as her work and the creative environment in which she lives.

Artist Vlog - Riso Chan

Riso Chan about embracing her true, sensitive self through artwork:

My work is very emotional. I work on portraits of the feelings I'm feeling. I was always a very sensitive person. When I was young, it has been something that made me feel uneasy and I attempted to get it out of my system. (...) As you grow, you realise that actually it's alright and everyone feels different. I decided to use my emotional energy that I have to my daily day life to begin painting. It is a way to boost my creative juices and generate fresh ideas. It's amazing that something that I was trying to push down for all of my life and then, suddenly I put it down on piece of paper and seemed like a great feeling of relief. There is finally the possibility to utilize this feeling, and I can utilize these feelings, pains, and joys and put them on paper. It felt really awesome and brought me back to my place of gratefulness. It started resonating with a many others. I began to open the door and writing things down onto paper that I had have never considered previously. Instead of trying to become similar to other artists who had already "made it", I really tuned on what I would like to convey and the person I am as a person. I embraced something that I didn't like about myself , and then realized that it was actually my greatest strength. I'm very happy to be my true sensitive self.
