Art collages - The CreativeMindClass Blog
On Sunday afternoon I accidentally caught Olga sharing Instagram posts about my childhood neighborhood. Within Warsaw's urban jungle is a less-known and sacred green area. I used to go there in summer time to gaze at gorgeous old pines and breathe in the fresh air of fresh air inside my urban lungs. In her story, Olga visited this area for the first time but she was also captivated by the most ancient backyards of Warsaw. In the near future, I am sure she will create the Boernerowo-inspired painting.
We inquired with Olga about the key to making her minimal collages and painting of landscapes that are human-shaped.
"My Name is Olga Szczechowska, and I'm living in Warsaw. Since I was a little kid, I've been painting and drawing a lot. I attended the art high school, and took classes in painting and Cultural Studies at the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun.
I'm a painter, illustrator occasionally a graphic designer. My work is a concentrate on the connection between humans and nature, paying close attention to how we influence nature in our own backyards. Through observing trimmed hedges or decorative plants as well as carefully designed gardens for homes I'm trying to capture the mysterious environment that surrounds us."
"For many years, I've created simple collages. The compositions are inspired by landscapes, still life, or are made as the result of experimentation with forms, textures as well as colours.
My work is diverse since collage and painting are quite different. However, they share one thing that they share: they relax. I've heard the term "soothing" repeatedly from my viewers and believe that best describes the essence of my work. When I'm tired of drawing, I do collages, and vice versa. One style is a temporary escape from the other.
I think observation is key. I pay attention to everything that surrounds me, the environment, architecture and objects. All this is reflected in my artwork. My artworks are not able to see the human , however, we are able to feel the human presence in trimmed hedges or in a mug that is left on the table."
