May 9, 2022

Paul Choi is a Senior Community Manager at . This spotlight will be turned over to him on our blog to highlight his role at , a meaningful event of Asian American and Pacific Islander culture, as well as other things!

Can you elaborate on the work you perform here in the first place ?

In our Community team, we manage The Hero Community and other community driven programs as well as sources. Our goal is to help connect people around the globe and to empower our Heroes to succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors by utilizing community-based programs and resources.

What's a particular professional achievement that you are particularly happy about?

What is your experience with your own cultural background influenced your work in tech?

This is something I'm trying to learn more about my own self.

Do you observe Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month If so, what does it mean to you?

Not specifically AAPI Heritage Month, but when I was growing up, I attended and participated in Korean festivals and other cultural and historical events including festivals and other campaigns. As with many others, I've realized how crucial these kinds of occasions and cultural events help us understand our identity and belonging.

Do you have a story to share about the event or someone in AAPI history that is meaningful for you?

The most significant would be to be my parents, along with the countless immigrant families that uprooted themselves in search of better opportunities elsewhere. It's a bit mind-blowing to consider the types of challenges facing the older generations in the AAPI community. Additionally, I must declare that I'll not forget the experience Linsanity was...so thanks to Jeremy Lin!

How do you participate within the AAPI Community?

I typically seek out communities in the spaces that I'm spending the most time. In college, I was involved heavily with KSA (the Korean Students Association) in addition to previous workplaces I've participated in different AAPI specifically-focused ERGs.

What do you love when you work there ?

My favorite part of working at is easily the people and the teams which I get to work with. I am extremely grateful for the warm and encouraging atmosphere created, and the passion that exists about our products as well as our customers is a joy to be a part of.

Are there any additional details you'd like to discuss on the subject with the readers of our blog?

A shameless invitation to our customers to be part of the Hero Community! We're going to continue to create the most engaging, and enriched user experience for our community and we'd love to have you there!
