For mindset coach Becky Mollenkamp , choosing to stop adhering to a "shoulds-based" lifestyle has transformed all of her life -- which includes her job.

Becky helps people make the shift from "small owner" to CEO and establishing profitable businesses that do not exhaust themselves. Through the Gutsy Boss brand, she has assisted thousands of customers determine their own "shoulds to be doing" and establish success within their goals.

Her experience spans nearly 20 years of experience in the field of entrepreneurship to her work, which included running a six-figure agency for content marketing before beginning her business of coaching in 2015.

Recently, we spoke to Becky to discuss how her business has undergone in the last few years as well as to look back on her career as a creator. The company is undergoing a change while she focuses particular attention on midsize entrepreneurs and their advisors as well as employees.

Even though Becky has been an entrepreneur for over two decades, coaching wasn't ever a component of her business plans.

"What started me down the coaching path was that my brother's passing in 2010 , after a drug overdose. The incident really awakened me out of my bed," Becky explains.

"I was a person who's life consisted of "shoulds," performing the routines, doing all the things you're supposed to do. That helped me realize life's far too brief to lead an unsatisfactory life that isn't what you truly want."

"I wasn't sure the exact thing I was seeking. But I knew that there wasn't anything like that." Becky remembers. She ended her writing company and returned to her residence with her mother. After that, she began the process to figure out what she wouldwant to see the remainder of her life.

Becky started to build her writing business. "It was something I was familiar with and was something I could succeed in. But, I realized the thing I really wanted to accomplish was helping other people get rid of their "shoulds'."

She then began to coach.

"I realized that I can help others who are going through similar experiences to those I've experienced. And that's really the reason I realized that's what I'm destined to do. This is what I'm destined to do."

Her own work as an agent's owner as well as her desire to assist others gave Becky's perspective a unique angle that was ideal for coaching people's mindset.

"I'm an expert in strategy or an advisor, but I'm a trainer. Thus, I guide people to their own decisions in addition to their personal idea of what they'd like in their lives or their work. I then assist them move forward on that," Becky explains.

To help people live their lives in a more full way, she incorporates her own values into the process. "I'm an empathic coach for women. This means that I respect lived experiences, being trauma-informed. The coaching I give is about compassion, no shame or blame."

Inspired by her own experience and knowledge, Becky began building her coaching online business but it was not without lots of "shoulds" too.

Tuning out the noise about what an internet-based business ought to be like

If asked about the difficulties with establishing her coach company, Becky laughs. "There weren't any challenges that I couldn't handle. I'm convinced I've faced every obstacle."

The battle over "shoulds' played out here, as well. "I believe the most difficult issue was that of the opinions in the internet world about the way your business should appear and how you should run it. It's about what you should accomplish in order to be successful," she says.

When she looks back, Becky finds this common assumption that business owners who do not start out with a full-time commitment aren't confident in their abilities, and that is harmful as well as a an unfair advantage. "I had to do my own thing to free me from those guilt and shame, and to see that my advice [that of take on the whole world wasn't practical for the vast most people."

"The most difficult part in the beginning was understanding that I was able to slowly transition from writing business to an entirely new endeavor." Her goal was to change her work to 25% every year. The first year consisted of 25 percent writing and 25 coaching, with a percentage of coaching. "Honestly this is the first year in which there's absolutely no writing," Becky tells us.

"That was a long and slow process. Allowing that and then releasing the burden of guilt and letting it go is likely the most efficient and most efficient way to start a new business without the feeling of having to be a part of the business or don't know the capabilities of their employees."

Becky was reluctant to think of her role as CEO, to see the value of her work , and also to see the large in the grand.

"You may be self-employed or be an entrepreneur on yourself or be a tiny firm owner that has only a few consultants . But, as the head, you are the CEO and you're your own leader," she emphasizes.

"It's about being confident that comes from an affirmation that states"I've got what it takes. I'm able to do this.'"

In the present, the mindset of a CEO is the basis of her interaction with clients.

Becky's profession is in the point where she's expanding her horizons to coach midsize businesses as well as team members .

"I worked on a personal basis, and still do, but I'm moving toward working with women who typically manage mid-sized businesses," she describes. "It's all about making sure that they have a harmonious work-life balance for them and then also engaging with their staff or their consultants to offer them coaching so that they can improve their work-life balance."

The change will create an impact in Becky's earnings as well.

"You charge more because you're charging more and you have to find someone who can make the same amount of money with these guides for $7 or even the course for $200. It's my job to sell other courses and guides] so I need to have many people in my database since only a tiny percentage who change into something." Coaches typically refer their clients to other people, which can increase the potential earnings for coaching down the line.

But, Becky plans to continue serving her broader audience, even if they aren't suitable for her coaching sessions one-on-one.

"I'm maintaining my business the way I've been doing it. It's Gutsy Boss, and I'm also helping individuals as well as businesses," Becky explains. "I will not let them go in the dust. I've been working with them for a long time as well as many are on my podcast, or on my email list."

"Listen to your intuition. Most of the clients I talk to... they are plagued by many doubts and they aren't sure which causes them to get stuck. It makes them feel that they're not making progress on their project. And that's so disappointing. That's the feeling I have," she says.

"In Beginning, really trying to believe in yourself is crucial to attain whatever success you can imagine."

Becky's coaching company has grown substantially since her very first coaching course launched in the year the year 2018.
